Audit adaptation before conversion

This gate decides whether a target version is ready, needs redesign, or must stop for a rights, privacy, safety, access, or evidence gap. Bring the source asset, objective, target audience and format, media plan, asset ledger, permission records, accessibility evidence, canonical source, practice, and maintenance owner. Do not average hard failures.

W3C’s media guidance directly informs Check 7. CAST supports multiple engagement, representation, and expression routes. Do not assume an accessible source confers accessibility on an export. Keep alternatives synchronized and preserve the substantive objective.

Check 11 covers participant consent, privacy, trademarks, platform terms, and other third-party rights. Check 12 names the canonical source, version, dependencies, and affected derivatives.

The CC BY-SA 4.0 deed describes conditions for covered material but does not prove that an asset uses that license or resolve every right. Verify scope and seek appropriate guidance for uncertainty. Checks 13–16: evidence and maintenance

Check 13 defines a format-specific learner action and feedback route. Check 14 preserves a common evidence standard where the objective is shared and records assistance. Check 15 assigns source, link, platform, and accessibility review triggers. Check 16 provides correction, notification, retirement, and deletion paths across all derivatives.

Do not use opens, views, attendance, or shares as proof of learning. Pair distribution evidence with a relevant changed-context attempt where appropriate. A derivative that no longer serves a current objective should be retired rather than maintained for channel completeness.

Resolve dependent failures and bound the claim

For each failure, record immediate protection, repair, owner, evidence, and due date. Re-run dependencies: a changed objective reopens format and evidence; a changed asset reopens rights and access; a changed canonical claim reopens every derivative. Archive prior approval and review by 2027-02-10.

Passing sixteen checks means one adaptation is traceable and ready for bounded use. It does not guarantee reach, engagement, learning, transfer, or legal compliance. Observe learner paths ethically, preserve contradictory cases, and seek qualified accessibility or legal review where the risk exceeds editorial competence.
